Korgs analog synthesizers such as monotron, monotribe, and MS-20 mini are now on a new stage: volca. The lineup includes three models at the same time: volca keys (lead synth), volca bass (bass synth), and volca beats (rhythm machine). With carefully selected parameters, the Volca lineup can create thick and varied analog sounds, which, combined with the intuitive phrase playing on the loop sequencer, makes for endless fun. The instrument can be linked to multiple units and DAWs, and its battery-powered, built-in speaker makes it possible to play anywhere, anytime. The next generation of analog synthesizers has been born, allowing you to easily and profoundly express the best sounds and grooves.

The volca beats features six analog drum sounds that are most appealing: Kick, Snare, Hi Tom, Lo Tom, Closed Hi Hat, and Open Hi Hat. The volca beats are based on the classic sounds of synthesizers and sampling CDs that are indispensable to dance music, and are newly designed to produce a fat sound with an analog core.

Analog allows for the maximum effect with the minimum number of parameters.

With only the minimum number of parameters carefully selected, volca beats allows you to immediately create the drum sounds you want. For example, the kick can be made with only three knobs (Click, Pitch, and Decay) to cover a wide range of sounds, from a rough, low-frequency dominated sound to a tight sound that holds the rhythm well.

All because of the analog sound source. The dense sound with a strong presence provides a convincing and powerful sound no matter which setting is used.

The PCM sound source covers the sounds that analog synths are not good at.

Clap, Claves, Agogo, and Clash, which analog synths are not good at, are realized with PCM sound sources, and the PCM engine is also carefully designed to reproduce the rough, lo-fi sounds of the 80s. The PCM engine is designed to reproduce the rough, lo-fi sounds of the 80s. It works well with analog drums, and the PCM Speed can dramatically raise or lower the pitch for an even more distinctive sound.

The step sequencer allows for pattern editing and improvisation, and the 16 step keys allow you to visually check the timing of each bar while intuitively typing. Real-time recording is also possible by playing the touch pad.

The STUTTER function adds drum roll and delay-like effects, greatly expanding the possibilities of live performance. The stutter knob can be used to drastically change the mood of an entire pattern or as a fill when switching patterns, and its movements can be recorded on the sequence.

The ACTIVE STEP function and STEP JUMP function generate new bass lines by removing and inserting steps.

The ACTIVE STEP function skips steps in the middle of a sequence, while the STEP JUMP function instantly plays back only the step that is being pressed. From short loop-like effects to unexpected irregular rhythms, dynamic performance is possible as if the sequence itself were being played.

SYNC and MIDI IN jacks allow synchronized play with multiple units and DAWs.

The sync jack enables synchronized playback with multiple volcas and monotribes, tap tempo and swing settings with the SyncKontrol iPhone app, and wireless synchronized playback with iPolysix and other iOS music apps via WIST.

The MIDI IN jack can be used to sync with other equipment, play with a MIDI keyboard, or use volca as an analog sound module by sending note messages from a DAW.
