■【 about Mino Washi 】
Mino Washi is Japanese paper made in the Mino region of Gifu Prefecture (Mino City, Seki City, Gifu City).
Along with Echizen Washi from Fukui Prefecture and Tosa Washi from Kochi Prefecture, it is counted as one of the three major Japanese papers in Japan.
Blessed with the clear water of the Itadori River, the production of washi paper dates back more than 1,300 years.
In Naras Shosoin, there is a family register paper made of Mino Washi that dates back to 702 and is considered to be the oldest paper in Japan.
Among them, the technique of hand-made Japanese paper "Honminoshi", which is created with carefully selected materials and outstanding technology and experience,
In 2014 (Heisei 26), as "Washi Japanese hand-made Japanese paper technology",
It has been registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage along with ``Sekishu-banshi (Hamada City, Shimane Prefecture) and ``Hosokawa Paper (Ogawa-machi, Saitama Prefecture).
In addition, hand-made Mino Japanese paper was used for the award certificates for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games 2020.
It is truly a traditional craft that Japan boasts to the world.
