Chase Bliss Audio Warped Vinyl Hifi Guitar Effects Pedal

The Chase Bliss Audio Warped Vinyl Hifi True Pitch Analog Chorus/Vibrato can create an infinite number of chorus and vibrato tones.

Originally, this amazing pedal was designed to create the unique shimmer of distorted analog records.

With analog records, the needle rubs the surface of the record and the vibrations are converted into sound in an analog form, and the Chase Bliss Audio Warped Vinyl Hifi also outputs a completely analog input signal. However, every knob is connected to a small digital brain (microprocessor) that controls the analog effects.

The guitar signal does not go through any digital processor, is not digitized at all, and is output as an analog signal to the end.

This digital control of the effect creates effects never heard before and never possible with analog effects.

The “true pitch” analog vibrato/chorus pedal combines an all-analog signal path with digital control to create an infinite number of chorus and vibrato sounds.

Compared to the Warped Vinyl MkII, the Warped Vinyl Hifi has an enhanced LAG knob for more vivid chorus tones, reduced noise, and the potential to create more transparent and brighter sounds.

● Controls

TONE (RAMP): Simply put, this is the magic knob: when nothing is assigned to this knob via the DIP switch, it acts as a Tone knob that acts on the pitch-bending vibrato. It has no effect on the dry signal, only on the effect signal, and when combined with the Mix control, it also changes the intensity of the Tone effect. The maximum clockwise setting produces a sparkling, transparent tone. The minimum counter-clockwise setting produces a dark, muddy sound.

In addition, the DIP switch allows you to assign the other five controls (LAG, MIX, RPM, DEPTH, and WARP) individually or in any combination. At this time, modulate and ramp-and-hold can be set with the DIP switch to oscillate the value of the parameter, the direction in which the parameter moves, and so on. In other words, this knob sets the time it takes for the set parameter to reach its maximum or minimum (Ramp Time).

LAG: Adjusts the delay time/latency between the wet and dry signals. turning up the LAG knob increases the delay time between the dry and wet signals, resulting in a bright, traditional chorus sound. When the mix is set to 100% to create a vibrato effect, the latency can be set to zero by minimizing the LAG knob. This setting will result in the lowest noise.

MIX: This is a wet/dry balance adjustment knob that can be set from completely wet to completely dry. Near the center, it produces a smooth chorus sound, while turning it to the right brings it closer to vibrato. It can be used to control the tone of the chorus by combining a full spectrum dry signal with a vibrato signal whose timbre can be adjusted with the TONE knob.

RPM: Adjusts the speed of the chorus/vibrato signal. The setting of this knob can be overridden by the tap tempo.

1-2-4(3-6-8)(R/-/+) switch: Switches the actual tempo multiplier set for the tap tempo input. Normally, this switch is for 1x, 2x, or 4x, but it can also be set to 3x, 6x, or 8x by using the DIP switch. The tap tempo can also be set to RAMP control. At that time, the tempo will be half of the tempo set by this switch. You can also set the behavior in hold mode.

DEPTH: Adjusts the vibrato swing width. A higher setting produces a more intense pitch vibrato. It can be set to even more powerful and crazy modulation than the original Warped Vinyl.

WARP: This control sets the center point of the modulation. Turn it to the left and the waveform will ramp up quickly and ramp down slowly. Turning it to the right slows the ramp-up time and speeds up the ramp-down time, resulting in a symmetrical waveform at the 12 oclock setting.

Waveform switch (left side): Switches the waveform during ramp-up between sine wave, triangle wave, and square wave.

Waveform switch (right side): Switches the waveform during ramp-down between sine wave, triangle wave, and square wave.

DEPTH, WARP, and the two waveform switching switches together are called the ModuShape engine. It opens up a new world of modulation shape control.

Bypass footswitch: turns the effect on and off, and can be DIP-switched to a momentary switch (the effect is only on while you step on it).

Warped Vinyl Hifi is a true bypass switching using a relay circuit.

Tap/Hold footswitch: allows you to set the vibrato speed and ramp time with a tap tempo. The tempo set here is always the last two taps. In hold mode, this switch can be held to trigger the RAPM; when the R/-/+ toggle switch is in the - position, it temporarily disables the vibrato LFO, and when in the + position, it enables the LFO.

Toggle switch in front: Preset selection switch. The right and left positions recall one preset each. In the center, the setting is manual. The LED in the center is red in the right position, green in the left position, and off in the center.

The settings that can be preset are the position of each knob, the toggle switch, and the DIP switch. Presets can be saved by pressing and holding the right footswitch for 3 seconds for the right position preset and the left footswitch for the left position, then pressing and holding both footswitches for 3 seconds.

If a parameter is changed while a preset is selected, such as by moving a knob, the LED will dim to indicate that some change has been made from the preset state. It is not yet saved. If you want to save that change, go through the preset save process again.

● Input/output jacks

IN: Input jack. Connect the cable from the instrument.

OUT: Output jack. Connect the cable to the amplifier.

EXP/CV: Expression pedal jack. These are stereo jacks. The control assigned to the expression pedal can be set with the DIP switch.

Many expression pedals from around the world can be connected and used; Chase Bliss Audio primarily uses and checks Mission Engineering expression pedals; the EP-1 or EP-25k is recommended.

A 0-5V CV (control voltage) can also be connected to the Warped Vinyl Hifi. At this time, the Ring side should be floating.

TAP/MIDI: Stereo jack for tap tempo input/output. It can also be synchronized with a MIDI clock using the Chase Bliss Audio Modified Empress Midibox.

Power Supply and Other

Warped Vinyl Hifi has a Current Draw of 70mA. It is powered by an alkaline 9V battery or a standard center-minus, 2.1mm 9V adapter.

Input impedance is 1MΩ, output impedance is less than 1kΩ.
