These adapters take a Russian 6E5 tube to a vintage American 6E5 or 6U5 socket. There is no need for a voltage doubler because the heater in the Russian tube is the same 6 volts as the American tube. The socket is designed specifically for these tubes that have NO Pin #4 and has pin #6. This is important. This listing includes a Russian 6E5 (brand new) and they work fine. if you want to buy the adapter alone. see my other auctions. These tubes are a little cheaper than the 1629 tube because the 1629 was made in the USA to military specs. Therefore the 1629 is a little better and will last longer than the Russian tubes.
